Most popularly known for his role as the strong attorney Jon Rollins on the hit NBC drama LA Law, Blair Underwood is one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood. In addition to television,stage and film acting, Underwood is a producer and director.

After his debut film Krush Groove, Underwood began to land small roles in staple TV shows such as The Cosby Show and One Life to Live. These small roles eventually led him to land the role of Jon Rollins on the NBC drama LA Law that aired for seven years. Underwood also starred in other iconic roles appearing in four episodes of Sex and the City playing Cynthia Nixon’s love interest, two years opposite Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the sitcom The New Adventures of Old Christine, and in 2010 Underwood portrayed the President of United States in the series The Event.

Underwood has recently made big screen appearances in Madea’s Family Reunion, Malibu’s Most Wanted, Full Frontal and Rules of Engagement, which won him a NAACP Award.

Underwood debuted in the directing field with the independent drama The Bridge to Nowhere. He also went on to direct, produce, write and star in several other works. In 2004, Underwood held a workshop entitled IM4: From the Mountaintop to Hip Hop in which he portrayed all eight characters.

  • Underwood won the Black Reel Award for his work as an outstanding supporting actor for The Trip to Bountiful, for which he also received a Critic’s Choice Award nomination.

  • Underwood won the Humanitarian Award winner for his work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
  • Underwood has been recognized by the NAACP fifteen times, walking away with a trophy five of those times
