Author of the NY Times Best Selling Memoir, “Things I Overheard While Talking to Myself” and accomplished actor, screenwriter, and director, Alan Alda is one of the most iconic names in America for the past five decades. Alda is largely recognized for his role as Captain Hawkeye Pierce in the television series M*A*S*H* and as Senator Arnold Vinick in the TV series, The West Wing. Since foregoing television and film, Alda has written two memoirs, the first entitled Never Have Your Dog Stuffed: and Other Things I’ve Learned, and his second entitled Things I Overheard While Talking to Myself. His memoirs are comprised of life experiences, advice, and thoughts about life.

Alan Alda’s inspirational appearances give strength and promise to the listeners. He talks of his mother’s schizophrenia, and the hardships and struggles that came with her condition. His first memoir, Never Have Your Dog Stuffed: and Other Things I’ve Learned, comes from his childhood. His dog had passed away, and the trauma caused from the aftermath is a staple of loss that is entirely relatable.

Alda’s interest in communication science and how humans work has gained national attention. He helped to find the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University, where he continues to be a visiting professor.

Currently residing in Los Angeles, California, Alda lives with his wife, Arlene.
